Diving
Croatian citizens well as foreign nationals may perform diving activities only if they hold a valid divers card. Divers card will be issued by the Croatian Diving Federation and it will be valid for a year following the issue date.
Its eastern shores, the Croatia Adriatic, is its most intricately indented part, with a total of 1185 islands, islets and reefs, with a total coastline length of 5,835 km, a surface area of 138,595 km2 and its greatest depth being 1330 m (Southern Adriatic Depression) and with waters that are exceptionally transparent to a depth of 50 m. Sea temperature fluctuations throughout the year: in winter months temperature ranges from 7 to 10 oC, in summer months average surface temperature is from 21 to 26oC, while the temperature at a depth of from 20 to 30 m remains constant throughout the year, ranging from 16 to 17 oC.

Divers card will be issued only to persons with adequate qualifications. Temporary diving qualifications are not valid. A fee for the issue of a divercard in the Republic of Croatia will amount to Kuna 100. The area, at which diving is performed, must be visibly marked, an orange or red buoy or a diving flag. The maximum approved depth for diving for sport and recreation is 40 meters.
Diving is not permitted at the following locations:
- In the areas of internal sea waters encompassing harbors, accesses to harbors, anchorage and the areas with heavy traffic.
- In strict and special sea reserves, natural parks and other protected sea and undersea areas.
- Near anchored warships and protected military facilities at the coastal edge at the distance of less than 100 meters.
- Brijuni, Krka national parks

In the zones of the national parks Brijuni, Kornati and Mljet, diving is permitted if organised by licensed diving centres and under the supervision of certified diving instructors.

Diving Tourism Group – DTG (PRO DIVING CROATIA) is an organization which brings together local and foreign companies engaged in diving tourism (professional diving centres) in Croatia. The seat of the DTG is in Split (HGK Split, Trumbiceva obala 4).

Croatian Diving Association (CDA) – The CDA seat is in Zagreb, Dalmatinska 12.
Hyperbaric chambers are located in Split (two chambers: Institute for Maritime and Hyperbaric Medicine, and the Goskovic Institute), in Pula (Polyclinic OXY Pula) and Zagreb (Polyclinic OXY Pula – Zagreb Branch, Dubrava Clinic Hospital). They are always fully prepared for the reception of any injured divers, and rescue services are linked with helicopter units in the event of emergency assistance, and swift transport, if needed.
